Electrician Lane Cove FAQs

Here's what Lane Cove homeowners ask us most before booking. Anything not covered below, ask on the call.

Common questions

Money, Quotes and the $50 Off

Do prices change once you start?

Not once you've signed off on the written quote, that number is locked. The only exception is if we open something up, a wall cavity or an old ceiling space, and find work nobody could have priced from outside. Even then, you hear about it and agree the new figure before we go further.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

There's nothing to pay just to have us come and look. Quotes are free, written on the spot, and you decide from there whether to go ahead.

What does "$50 off your first service" cover?

Fifty dollars comes straight off whatever your first job costs, big or small. Swapping a power point or replacing the whole switchboard, the discount applies either way as a new customer.

How do I pay?

Once the job's done and checked over, you pay against the price we agreed in writing at the start. There's no running tally and nothing added on that wasn't in that original figure.

Common questions

Licensed, Insured and Done Properly

What is a safety switch (RCD) and do I need one?

Think of it as a trip wire for electricity: the instant current escapes where it shouldn't, the switch cuts the circuit. That stops a fault before it can hurt anyone or start a fire. Plenty of older Lane Cove boards were fitted before these were standard, which is usually the reason an upgrade gets recommended.

Can I do my own electrical work in NSW?

Not legally, no, aside from something trivial like changing a light globe. Circuits, switchboards and anything hardwired have to go through a licensed electrician under NSW law.

Are you licensed and insured?

We are. NSW Electrical Contractor Licence #452529C covers the work, Master Electricians Australia membership sits alongside it, and full insurance backs the lot.

What brands do you install?

Clipsal and Hager for switchgear, SAL and Beacon Lighting where a job needs fittings. We stick to gear built to last rather than the cheapest option on the shelf.

Common questions

How Fast We Get to You

How soon can you fit me in?

Often same or next day is the realistic answer for most bookings. We'd rather check the calendar and give you an honest window than promise a specific hour we can't guarantee.

What happens after I call?

Someone local picks up, works out what you need, and finds a slot that fits your week. From there a sparkie comes out, prices the job face to face, and starts once you give the go-ahead.

How fast can you get here?

Most jobs get booked in within a day or two, often same or next day. A genuine emergency skips the queue entirely and gets seen straight away.

Do you work weekends?

Weekend slots are on offer when the schedule has room for them. For anything urgent though, the emergency line doesn't care what day it is.

Common questions

Local Answers for Lane Cove

Can you handle new builds and renovations here?

Both, regularly. Lane Cove's mix of older houses being renovated and newer builds or apartment fit-outs going up means we're switching between the two most weeks. Each brings its own wiring and capacity questions.

Do you know Lane Cove's housing stock?

The suburb filled up fast on war-service-home blocks after both world wars, then flats started arriving from 1962. By the end of the seventies, close to 200 flat blocks sat along the main roads. Post-war houses next to mid-century apartments is the pattern behind most of what we quote here.

Do you work on heritage/strata properties?

We do, when the building itself calls for that approach. Heritage housing and strata blocks both bring their own wiring history, and we're used to coordinating with owners corporations as much as individual homeowners.

What suburbs do you service?

Beyond Lane Cove itself, these suburbs are all part of a normal week's bookings for us, not an add-on trip. - Artarmon - Chatswood - St Leonards - Naremburn - Willoughby - Roseville
